Without supply chain mapping, no reliable results…

The Sustainability Index reporr recently released by The Business of Fashion analyses the practices of 15 major groups in terms of transparency, CO2 emissions, water and chemical use, material sourcing, workers’ rights and waste.

The results, which are not really encouraging, show a gap between public commitments and actions taken. In terms of sourcing, the average score reachs a timid 31/100 and once again reminds us of the importance of knowing our supply chains, upstream of manufacturers.

The opacity of supply chains makes it more difficult to trace (and a fortiori, to be transparent about) the raw materials involved and to control production conditions.

In order to effectively (and sustainably) make a difference, we share the conviction that the first step is to map your supply chains, and then to implement a responsible sourcing strategy.
