The importance of social considerations in our supply-chains

For more than three weeks now, a tug of war has been going on between the top management of the Escondida copper mine in Chile and its workers, asking for safe and secure working conditions.

The threat of a strike that would affect production at the world’s largest mine is of course worrying the markets, with uncertain consequences for supply and prices, in a context of very high demand, particularly linked to our energy transition.

This is proof that taking into account the social considerations of workers remains a crucial issue for the sustainability of many industries and supply-chains on which our countries are dependent.
