The last couple of weeks put some emphasis on the link between deforestation and cattle production.
The WWF warns that the responsibility for this does not stand alone to the meat industry. Instead, it is a shared one. All buyers of hides, whatever their activity in the supply chain and the industry they are related to should have a role to play.
In addition, it points out that hides sales are a source of additional income for producers, which should be an opportunity to accelerate and incentivize the adoption of alternative practices.
A call for action, that needs to be driven by cross-industries collaboration and engagement.
